Photo Response Work 1

Algonquin Provincial Park

I am alone
An island
Fog rolls on grey waters
Clouds linger in stormy skies
Each wave makes a hollow sound
As it slaps the current
The lake’s surface
A reflection of shadows
Of trees

I am alone
An island
People paddle by
On creaky canoes
Pensive and peaceful
But they never pause
Never even glance
At me

I am alone
An island
Amidst a sea
Of suffocating solitude
Leaves blaze
Red, orange, yellow
But all else
Is grey
On that dismal
Late autumn day
